Mr. Ackerberg is Chief Executive Officer and owner of The Ackerberg Group where he is responsible for generating new business along with quality control for development, acquisition, property management, leasing, and construction services.
Prior to forming The Ackerberg Group, Mr. Ackerberg served as General Partner, President and Chief Operating Officer for Birtcher Financial Services and was Vice President for Heitman Financial Services, Ltd.
Recently, Ackerberg created a non-profit development corporation, Catalyst Community Partners, wherein he serves as its Chairman of the Board. Catalyst Community Partners, a 501(c) 3 corporation, is a social venture organization focused on creating prosperity for under performing communities through real estate redevelopment and enterprise creation. The organization creates change by providing continual, quickly executed, high impact, concentrated investments along underperforming commercial corridors.
Mr. Ackerberg is an active member of the Urban Land Institute, a member Lambda Alpha International, and a director of various non-profit and for-profit boards.
Mr. Ackerberg attended the University of Wisconsin – Madison where he received a Bachelor of Science degree with emphasis on Economics and Real Estate.
Mr. Ackerberg and his family reside in the western Twin Cities at Indigo Acres, a “spiritual retreat”. Indigo Acres is a combination of historical experience through Native American dwellings including four 26-foot authentic Sioux tipis, an 1860 English Chateau, an 1880 cottage, and 150 acres of trails, ponds, sculptures, woods, a river, and “magic”. Also at Indigo Acres, he and his wife, Romy, operate a state-of-the-art breeding and training facility for American Saddlebred show horses.

Mary joined The Ackerberg Group in 1995 as a property accountant and today oversees all operations of the company. Active in all of TAG’s development projects, Mary uses her finance expertise to efficiently evaluate projects and client goals. Mary serves as Real Estate Broker for the company and is an active member of NAIOP (National Association of Industrial and Office Properties). When not whipping up pro-formas, Mary enjoys spending time with her husband Jim and her Yorkie, Izzybah.

Josh Floring joined the Ackerberg Group as a Senior Associate Broker in 2010.
His passion for the urban landscape along with his Bachelor’s degree in Urban Studies from the University of Minnesota, led him to his career in commercial real estate where he discovered the importance of community and building strong relationships.
Throughout his career, Josh has evaluated and marketed various types of commercial real estate including development sites, industrial & office properties, multi-family apartment buildings, and retail opportunities. He has also represented local, national, and foreign tenants, investors, and developers to lease and purchase investment property.
Josh is passionate about his role in helping create the urban fabric of Minneapolis and is a member of CCIM, MNCAR, and NAR. He is a Licensed Real Estate Broker, social networking guru, and architectural enthusiast.
Outside of the office, Josh enjoys collecting pocketknives, unearthing noteworthy maps, snowboarding, and maintaining his website. Josh, his wife Jenni, and their two Jack Russell Terriers, currently live in South Minneapolis.

After many years in the medical field, Brie enjoys the people and fast-pace of the front desk in her dual role as receptionist for both The Ackerberg Group and the Lake Calhoun Executive Suites. Brie delivers clients top-notch support at the hub of the office. Away from the desk, Brie exercises her creativity through her own furniture refinishing business, home improvement projects and spending time with her grandchildren.

JoAnna is the Director of Development for Ackerberg Group where she is responsible for overall management of development projects including those completed on behalf of Catalyst Community Partners.
JoAnna attended Macalester College where she received her bachelor’s degree in urban studies and history. She went on to receive a master’s degree from the University of Vermont in natural resources planning.
JoAnna got her start in development in Vermont, where she worked with Cathedral Square Corporation, a nonprofit housing developer developing affordable housing for seniors, low-income families and people with disabilities. Upon moving to Minneapolis, Hicks assumed a role as director of development at the Neighborhood Development Center (NDC), a Minneapolis-based nonprofit training, lending and technical-assistance program for inner-city entrepreneurs. There she led the ambitious Midtown Global Market project within Ryan Companies’ Midtown Exchange development in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and she was featured in The New York Times for her work on the NDC’s Plaza Verde redevelopment, also in Minneapolis.
JoAnna went on to join Ryan Companies as Director of Development of a variety of industrial, business park, office and build-to-suit projects. Ms. Hicks was recognized as a Business Journal Woman to Watch in 2008 for her efforts in bringing environmentally-friendly practices to Ryan Companies’ development projects in the Minnesota Region, most notably Two MarketPointe, which the Business Journal awarded Best Green Project at its Best in Real Estate Awards. JoAnna also worked on Transoma Medical, a brownfield redevelopment project that is roughly 20 percent more efficient than a traditional building.
JoAnna is an active member of the Urban Land Institute, a member of the NAIOP Sustainability Committee, and a volunteer for various non-profit organizations.

Thatcher joined The Ackerberg Group in August 2005 as a brokerage assistant. Since then, he has moved to the finance and development side of the company. He graduated from the University of Minnesota with his concentration in Urban Studies. Thatcher’s no stranger to Uptown, as he co-authored Uptown Minneapolis, a photographic history book on the area. He’s a member of the Urban Land Institute, National Association of Industrial and Office Properties, the President of the Uptown Association since 2008, serves on the Southwest Community Education Advisory Council, and served on the Uptown Small Area Plan Steering Committee. When not working, you can find Thatcher traveling to urban destinations, attending community meetings, biking, conducting historical research, vegetable gardening, and enjoying time with his wife, family and friends.

Mare is an avid kick boxer, swimmer, and bicyclist, showing up many others in The Ackerberg Group. When not working or sweating, Mare enjoys traveling with her husband.

Nicole has been with The Ackerberg Group since 1996, when she began as a property accountant. Since then, Nicole has expanded her duties to include property management and overseeing the financial operation of the company. Nicole is an active member of NAIOP (National Association of Industrial and Office Properties) and holds her Minnesota Real Estate License. Nicole earned a B.B.A. in accounting from the University of Iowa. She enjoys reading, gardening and camping with her husband and two daughters.

Previous owner of his own engineering company, Ron has served as The Ackerberg Group’s Facilities Administrator since 2003 and is our first line of defense when maintenance issues crop up. Ron is a registered locksmith, and is a state licensed boiler operator. He is currently pursuing his electricians license as well as his MVAC certification. A die-hard Vikings fan, Ron and his wife enjoy spending time at the games as well as gardening and home improvement.
